Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MRI Radiographer to join our MRI Team at St Helier Hospital. The posts offer the opportunity for highly motivated and knowledgeable radiographers, with MRI experience, to develop imaging and teaching skills in an expanding team and department.
Key Information
We have four 1.5T MRI scanners, including GE Artist and Explorer. We perform a range of examinations including angiography, orthopaedic, oncology, neuro and paediatrics. A new Siemens Sola with cardiac capability will be installed at the Epsom Site in October 2025.
Service operates a 7‑day extended 8‑8 shift pattern. A flexible approach to work, with the ability to cover contracted hours across 7 days per week, is required.
Main Responsibilities
* Perform a wide range of MRI examinations of all body areas as required, producing high‑quality diagnostic images.
* Manage patient priority while maintaining a high standard of patient care, respect for dignity and privacy.
* Work autonomously and as part of the MRI team to provide a comprehensive and effective service.
* Provide training to junior members of staff and support students.
* Assist in ensuring the MRI service meets all waiting‑time targets and responds to future needs of the organisation by participating in the extended 7‑day working pattern.
* In the future, support new developments around extended MRI service provision.
* Be willing to work at either Epsom or St Helier hospital sites as required.
Essential Qualifications
* DCR or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography.
* HCPC registration.
* Record of CPD activities.
Desirable Qualifications
* Evidential postgraduate education and training.
* MRI Safety Course (e.g., MRSO).
* Endorsed Cannulation Certificate.
Essential Experience
* Wide experience of all radiographic procedures.
* Experience within an NHS MRI role.
* Experience organising lists or own workload.
Desirable Experience
* Pro‑active in own learning and development.
Key Knowledge & Skills
* Organise and prioritise workload; supervise and support junior staff.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to work without supervision.
* Knowledge of MRI physics and principles.
* Experience in training staff in MRI.
