Job Description:
Our Retirement Village in Rugby is seeking a Wellbeing Advisor to cover bank shifts (sickness & holiday cover). Flexibility is essential as you may work various shifts, including days and nights.
Candidates should ideally have a full first aid training certificate and DBS on the update service; training and DBS can be provided for the right candidate. Good command of English and the ability to stay calm in emergencies are required. Willingness to attend training at other UK sites is necessary. The role requires good listening skills, teamwork, and confident engagement with residents.
The main responsibilities include:
* Responding promptly to emergency calls within the retirement village.
* Assessing emergencies and providing appropriate assistance.
* Administering first aid and basic medical care when needed.
* Ensuring residents and staff know how to use the emergency call system.
* Carrying out wellbeing baseline assessments for new residents to promote safe, independent living.
* Providing health information and awareness sessions for residents over 55, and promoting self-help groups.
* Coordinating with emergency services as required.
* Communicating effectively during emergencies with residents, families, and staff.
* Supporting the village team with wellbeing knowledge to promote healthy eating and lifestyle initiatives.
* Maintaining accurate incident records.
* Providing moral and emotional support to residents.
Requirements:
* Satisfactory DBS disclosure, references, medical clearance, and right to work in the UK.
* Experience as an emergency responder, EMT, or similar is preferred.
* Knowledge of primary care and referral processes.
* CPR/First Aid certification is required.
* Emergency first aid at work qualification, ability to access all areas of the village, and confidence in using emergency equipment including defibrillators and evacuation chairs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm under stress.
* Empathy for elderly residents.
* Physical ability to respond quickly and assist residents in emergencies.
