Senior Scientist Analytical Chemistry

Hoddesdon

We are looking for a Senior Scientist in Analytical Chemistry with a strong background in Analytical Chemistry combined with a solid expertise in HPLC and potentially GC, SFC, NMR or other analytical methodologies utilized to characterize APIs. The role is to support chemistry projects, develop and validate analytical methods, provide expert advice in the characterization of Starting Materials, Intermediates and APIs and collaborates effectively with Process Chemistry colleagues.

Requirements:

* PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline or a BSc and several years’ relevant experience in an Analytical Chemistry laboratory.
* Significant expertise in troubleshooting and developing HPLC methods.
* In-depth, hands-on expertise and up-to-date knowledge of other analytical methodologies.
* Understanding of other chromatographic separation techniques such as SFC and/or GC.
* Strong scientific record of accomplishment.

Key roles and responsibilities:

* Developing, troubleshooting and validating HPLC methods
* Working within project teams working to tight deadlines
* Planning their own work and prioritising as necessary with the minimum level of supervision
* Able to step in and learn new techniques to support projects
* Ability to solve complex scientific problems
* Able to work effectively in a GMP laboratory
* Able to present scientific work to clients in progress meetings

We are based in Hertfordshire, in the town of Hoddesdon. The Hoddesdon campus, consisting of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a purpose-built conference area has more than 5,000 m 2 of premier R&D space and houses established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Product Development and Drug Discovery teams. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and Oral Solid Dose Manufacture, formulation development and process chemistry. The Analytical Chemistry team at the Hoddesdon site supports other chemistry functions and our science partners with advanced analytical solutions to deliver our clients’ programmes and ultimately progress medicines to the market. You will be able to apply your knowledge and problem-solving skills to a wide variety of R&D projects and to facilitate the development and validation of modern analytical methods for the testing of raw materials, intermediates and APIs and material characterisation.
