Yard Operative Materials Controller required for a large recycling / paper manufacturing company in Snodland Kent. 8-hour shifts – mornings (06:00 – 14:00) and evenings (14:00 – 22:00) only. Excellent salary and benefits package – please call for further details.
Working as part of a 2-person team within a larger 5-person crew, the role principally requires the safe control and management of all material handling yard activities. You will be responsible for unloading and loading vehicles, monitoring incoming raw materials, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring materials are safely stacked, stored and rotated to support efficient operations.
The successful candidate will monitor all incoming loads against quality standards, minimise contamination, record and report any quality issues (including rejected loads and downgrades), and ensure full compliance with site health, safety and environmental procedures.
Candidate requirements:
* Previous yard, warehouse, recycling or manufacturing experience
* Experience operating material handling equipment such as forklift
* 5 GCSE’S or equivalent to include maths and English grade C / 4 and above
* Strong understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work
* Quality-focused with good attention to detail
* Good IT and record-keeping skills
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
Duties include:
* Unloading and loading vehicles using clamp and shovel trucks (training provided)
* Safe stacking and rotation of baled raw materials
* Monitoring pedestrian and vehicle movements within the yard
* Conducting regular stock takes and updating internal IT systems
* Reporting equipment defects and supporting maintenance teams
* Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
* Supporting weighbridge and other operational functions when required
* Adhering to site permits, Environmental Agency regulations, and Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures
