Job Summary
GKN Aerospace is hiring Composite Operators for multiple shifts!
As a Composite Operator, you will plan layouts and perform production operations to fabricate, assemble, and develop composite parts, assemblies, and molds for aerospace applications. Work in self-directed teams with minimal supervision, following instructions, specifications, and procedures to carry out manufacturing activities for both production and developmental programs.
Available Work Schedules:
* First Shift: Monday - Friday (6:00AM - 2:30PM)
* Second Shift: Monday - Friday (2:00PM - 10:30PM)
* Third Shift: Sunday - Thursday (10:00PM - 6:30AM)
Job Responsibilities:
* Organize work areas, plan tasks with team, perform assigned work, and meet or exceed quality, schedule, and cost goals. Ensure product quality.
* Train other employees as needed to perform tasks.
* Assist with process problems, document issues, and follow up on open issues.
* Use hand, power, and machine tools to prepare, clean, and process molds, equipment, parts, and assemblies. Equipment may include knives, cutters, presses, cranes, ovens, grinders, drills, forklifts, etc.
* Follow standard and non-standard procedures to cut, shape, bond, lay-up, inject, cure, trim, drill, and repair composite parts.
* Accurately record all fabrication and machine parameters on parts, routing sheets, and documentation to ensure proper tracking.
* Use inspection devices like calipers, micrometers, gauges to ensure quality. Inspect and certify own work to standards.
* Maintain a clean work environment and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Job Qualifications:
Education:
* High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
* At least 1 year of experience in production, assembly, inspection, or fabrication
* U.S. Person status required per ITAR regulations for export compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong attention to detail
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to read and write instructions
* Basic shop mathematics knowledge
* Ability to work according to a plan, organize work, and lead tasks and people
* Experience with heat/oven forming, trimming, and materials shaping
* Good vision (including color and depth perception) with correction to 20/25 or better
* Willingness to travel within facilities
* Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. properly
