Design & Technology is a valued subject within the school, with strong engagement at KS3 and KS4 and opportunities at KS5. The department delivers a broad curriculum including Product Design, Resistant Materials, and Food Technology.
The Role
* Leading and managing the Design & Technology department across KS3, KS4, and KS5
* Driving high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment
* Developing an ambitious and industry-relevant DT curriculum
* Overseeing workshop safety, machinery compliance, and risk assessments
* Line managing and mentoring DT staff
* Monitoring pupil progress and implementing attainment strategies
* Managing departmental budgets and resource allocation
* Contributing to whole-school leadership and curriculum development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* A degree in Design & Technology or a related subject
* Proven experience teaching DT at secondary level
* Previous leadership experience within a DT department
* A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills
* Strong knowledge of workshop safety and compliance
