Location and Role Summary
We have a permanent Band 5 post available in Huntingdon and Doddington, based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital with potential to work at Doddington Hospital.
Our Team
The Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Team is part of a business unit jointly led by a Clinical Leadership Team, Operational Managers and Clinical Specialists. We deliver a high‑quality, evidence‑based service with a strong track record of innovation and a focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in care.
* Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
* Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques.
* Be responsible for the selection, implementation and evaluation of physiotherapy programmes, individually or in a group setting, based on evidence‑based practice and treatment skills.
* Work within Trust and CSP guidelines, and maintain a good working knowledge of national and local standards, monitoring the quality of own and others’ practice.
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with CSP standards of practice.
* Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
* Perform clinical duties including face‑to‑face consultations, Physio Advice Line telephone consultations and group settings.
* Collaborate with Band 4 Rehabilitation Instructors to deliver appropriate treatment and rehabilitation progression.
Professional Responsibilities
* Maintain own clinical professional development by keeping abreast of new developments and incorporating them into work.
* Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply that knowledge to your work.
* Be an active member of the in‑service training programme through attendance and presentation at staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions, external courses and reflective practice.
* Participate in department/trust audits and evaluation of best practice.
* Assist in the staff appraisal scheme and personal development plan as an appraisee.
* Measure and evaluate your work through evidence‑based practice, clinical audit, research and outcome measures.
* Maintain professional development and participate in appraisal and KSF process.
Organisational Responsibilities
* Plan, manage and prioritise own caseload and assist other team members with their workload.
* Decide priorities for own work area, balancing patient‑related and professional demands.
* Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up‑to‑date documentation in line with legal and departmental requirements.
* Communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines via reports and letters.
* Be actively involved in the collection of appropriate data and statistics.
* Maintain standards of safety in accordance with Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust policies and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Undertake any other duties considered appropriate by the Lead Physiotherapist for rehabilitation and musculoskeletal.
Qualifications and Experience
* Band 5 physiotherapist, experienced or newly qualified.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong team‑working mindset.
* Will accept applicants obtaining HCPC registration in the next few months.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to clinical governance.
