Job Purpose
The Engineering Stores Manager is responsible for the effective control, organisation and availability of engineering stock across multiple customer sites. Acting as the key link between the customer’s engineering teams and the company. The role ensures that all sites are consistently supported with the parts and consumables required to maintain operational efficiency and minimise downtime.
This is a field based role covering six customer locations, all within approximately a 30 minutes of each other. The successful candidate will regularly travel between sites using a company provided van, managing stock levels, supporting engineering teams and maintaining high standards of store organisation and compliance at each location.
The role requires a proactive and highly organised individual who can work independently across multiple sites, ensuring accurate inventory management, timely replenishment of stock and adherence to health and safety standards. By maintaining strong communication with both on site engineers and the company central head office, this role plays a critical role in delivering a reliable and responsive inventory service.
Job Responsibilities
Manage and maintain engineering stores across six customer sites, ensuring consistent standards, organisation and availability of stock at each location
Travel regularly between sites using a company van to oversee stock control and support engineering teams
Monitor and control stock levels of engineering components and consumables, ensuring accuracy through inventory management systems
Carry out goods in and goods out processes, including receiving, inspecting, labelling and safely storing materials
Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts across all locations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Work closely with procurement teams and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of stock and sourcing of critical or obsolete parts
Act as the primary point of contact for on site engineering teams, ensuring critical spares are available for planned maintenance and breakdowns
Optimise store layouts at each site to improve efficiency, accessibility and safety
Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH, safe storage practices and manual handling requirements
Maintain accurate records of stock movements, usage and inventory levels, supporting KPI reporting and performance tracking
Build strong working relationships with site teams and the company central office to deliver a high level of customer service
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in stock management processes, cost control and service delivery
Respond quickly to urgent engineering requirements, prioritising workload effectively across multiple sites
Skills Required
Full clean UK driving licence
Experience in engineering stores, inventory control or industrial stock management
Strong knowledge of engineering parts, tools and consumables
Competent with stock control systems / ERP software
Strong organisation skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage workload across multiple sites independently
Good communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of health & safety standards
Ability to prioritise, problem-solve and respond to urgent demands
Physically capable of manual handling tasks where required
