As Head Housekeeper, you will lead and manage the housekeeping team to ensure that Dalhousie Castle Hotel and Spa maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort across all bedrooms, public areas, spa, and event spaces. You will be a hands-on leader with a strong eye for detail and a passion for exceptional service in a luxury environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily housekeeping operations for bedrooms, public areas, spa facilities, and event spaces.
Ensure all areas meet hotel standards for cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene at all times.
Manage, train, and motivate the housekeeping team to deliver high-quality, consistent results.
Develop staff rotas, manage holidays, and ensure adequate coverage for peak periods.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas and address any issues promptly.
Maintain effective stock control of linen, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities.
Liaise with the maintenance team to report and track necessary repairs.
Uphold and implement all health, safety, COSHH, and hygiene regulations.
Manage laundry processes (in-house or outsourced) and ensure timely return of clean items.
Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback and resolve service issues effectively.
Support recruitment, performance reviews, and ongoing staff development.
Person Specification
Essential:
Previous experience in a similar supervisory/management role in housekeeping.
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to luxury hospitality standards.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of COSHH, manual handling, and hygiene regulations.
Flexible and able to work weekends, bank holidays, and during busy periods.
Desirable:
Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
Knowledge of PMS or housekeeping systems.
First Aid or Health & Safety training (desirable but not essential).
