We have a vacancy for a full-time HCA to join our friendly team.
The following are the core responsibilities of the phlebotomist/HCA. There may be on occasions, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols ( Essential for this role)
c. Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS
d. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
g. Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff
h. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
i. Recording ECG's (Desirable but not essential)
j. Patient Health Checks
k. Measuring observations (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Height, Weight) (Essential for this role)
l. Intramuscular Injections, including Seasonal Adult Vaccinations
m. Urine Analysis
We would expect candidates to have reasonable level of computer literacy.
We would expect the candidate to adhere to confidentiality practices and follow all Practice policies and procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £13.05-£14.24 per hour
