Our client is recruiting for an Operations Geologist on a 12‑month contract in Aberdeen. The role includes office hours with a 3‑on / 3‑off duty pattern, 24/7 on‑call for 3 weeks, and 12‑hour shifts for geosteering during reservoir sections.
Responsibilities
* Follow up wells in operation to ensure geological objectives are met and support the execution team.
* Serve as the main point of contact for offshore teams (mudlogging, LWD, DD, DSV) and onshore service company geosteering and FPWD teams for the entire well.
* Contribute to avoiding well‑control incidents.
* Make decisions within the geological program parameters such as data acquisition, POOH, geosteering, formation‑top picking and section TD.
* Report geological observations on the well.
* Perform quality control of drilling and geological data related to formation evaluation.
* Update and distribute the trip risk log.
* Attend morning rig calls.
* Provide reports and updates as required.
Post‑well Activities
* Share observations and results with the SUB and Wells teams.
* Prepare FWR and Post‑well Composite Log.
* Submit Wellbore Update Notification (WONS) at well end.
Planning
* Participate in well construction through prediction and evaluation of pore pressure, stress, and well‑bore stability.
* Implement and update PP/WBS models with relevant reference wells.
* Contribute to risk assessments with PP/WBS input.
* Prepare pre‑risk chart in Gravitas.
* Provide input to the Data Acquisition Program.
Minimum Qualifications
* University level Earth Science degree.
* Significant offshore geological experience.
* Significant operational geology experience.
* Experience in geosteering with deep resistivity LWD tools.
* Experience in formation‑pressure point selection and operations.
* Experience in pore‑pressure prediction.
* Knowledge of IT tools such as Gravitas, RokDoc, Petrel, and Predict (training provided).
* Heavy oil and ERD experience is advantageous.
