A fantastic opportunity for a Practitioner Psychologist to join a thriving Clinical Health Psychology Service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative adaptable practitioner psychologist keen to develop experience, knowledge and skills in working in Paediatric haematology and oncology specialities. Contributing to the care provided by a range of multidisciplinary specialist services including the paediatric cancer services (oncology/haematology) and benign haematology services (haemophilia and haemoglobinopathies). We are advertising a fixed term maternity cover post. The postholder will work alongside other psychologists in the paediatric oncology and haematology and palliative care services, including a consultant lead.

Main duties of the job
To provide psychology services into the paediatric cancer services (oncology/haematology) and benign haematology services (haemophilia and haemoglobinopathies) including direct and indirect clinical work.
* To provide psychological services including assessment, neuropsychological assessment, formulation and implementation of psychological interventions for children/ young people and their families within the cancer and benign haematology services.
* Deliver these services in ward-based and out-patient settings as needed.
* Provision of psychological advice, consultation, training, and support for other professionals working across this care pathway as assigned by the Specialist Clinical Psychologist, Cluster Lead or Head of Services
* Support with development and evaluation of the service.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Qualified Clinical or Counselling psychologist and registered with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist
Experience/Knowledge
* Experience of clinical work with children, young people and families within a CAMHS setting
* Experience of presenting psychological formulations, assessments and interventions to multi-professional teams
* Experience of formal teaching/presentation sessions to health and other professionals
* Experience of clinical work with infants, children and/or young people or adults with acute /long term medical conditions
Skills and Abilities
* Able to assess the psychological needs of children, young people and adults including the use of cognitive and developmental psychometric tests in a physical health setting
* Able to generate systemic and individual formulations and interventions based on applying psychological theory to the complex information generated by the individual, child, family, health and social care systems
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the psychological implications of acute and long term medical condition for children, adults, young people and their families
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the roles of a clinical psychologist in relation to a patient/ their family/ the staff teams/ and the wider organisational systems around them
* Ability to communicate highly complex psychological information to staff in an accessible manner ( written, verbal, electronic)
* Able to demonstrate examples of successful commitment to team working
* Able to demonstrate a realistic awareness of the potential for work related stress and distress in this type of clinical work plus strategies to manage this
* Advanced communication skills with the ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information for children, young people and their carers in a developmentally and culturally appropriate manner in highly emotive situations including end of life care
* Able to record and provide information and data pertaining to clinical work, activity and outcomes ( written, electronic)
* Able to demonstrate successful use of strategies to prioritise and manage time when there are conflicting demands
