Job Description
As the Building Control Inspector for the Base Installation Assessment Team, your primary responsibilities will include:
* Asset Management: Specializing in the management of Electrical, HVAC, Structural, Plumbing, and Fire systems for facilities and utilities at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Feltwell.
* Inspections and Audits: Conducting inspections, assessments, and audits for a range of construction, maintenance, modification, and repair projects.
* Condition Assessment: Regularly inventorying and assessing the condition of critical infrastructure, such as water, gas, and HVAC systems, using a computerized management system.
* Subject Matter Expertise: Acting as the subject matter expert by evaluating systems against set criteria and providing detailed recommendations for future projects, investments, and maintenance plans.
* Planning Support: Assisting planners in developing annual work plans for both corrective and preventive maintenance programs for utility and facility assets.
Qualifications and Key Skills
* Specialized experience in Engineering aid, technician, surveying technician or Construction inspector, construction representative or Supervisor of craftsperson’s, equipment operators, mechanics, engaged in construction work
* A combination of Education and Training HND/HNC/BTEC, City and Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline (i.e Mechanical, Electrical, Civil engineering), together with a minimum of three year’s work experience in the trade.
* A Bachelors Degree in an appropriate discipline
* A valid UK CAT B driving license
1. Knowledge of construction inspection practices and procedures involved in the inspection of building materials, workmanship, utilities, and the installation of systems; and the practical methods and techniques of engineering principles relating to complex construction practices and procedures.
2. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, water, fuels, and structural aspects of major construction projects and existing facilities.
3. Knowledge of inspection and safety practices and procedures in the construction industry.
4. Knowledge of engineering and architectural plans and specifications to read and interpret construction requirements.
5. Knowledge of construction trades, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

* You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
* You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
* You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
* Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
* You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
