Job Title: Fleet Programmes Project Engineer
Location: Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. This position may be subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
The role
As a Fleet Programmes Project Engineer you’ll provide a project management and engineering function to deliver Submarine projects to meet safety, time, quality, performance, and cost targets. Babcock provides services including fleet time engineering, facilities management, waterfront services, logistics and transport within an agreed operating budget, with a focus on continuous and sustainable improvement in warship and submarine support.
* Compile Project Management Plans from agreed Work Package Scopes on multiple Vessel Systems and disciplines.
* Assist the Fleet Programmes Project Manager in maximizing the utilisation and efficiency of all Project Management resources, including deputising for the Project Manager when required.
* Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements.
* Ensure maintenance plans are developed and agreed as the work package evolves.
* Attend and participate in start-up and progress meetings during the Project lifecycle.
* Ensure all project work packages are captured, approved and implemented within PEPS.
* Liaise closely with vessels, shore departments and MoD customers (internal and external) to deliver outputs.
This position involves working at height. Candidates must be able to work safely and perform tasks at varying heights.
Essential experience
* Ideally knowledge of Submarine systems and equipment (desirable).
* Project Planning and Project Risk Management techniques.
* Must be computer literate.
This role is dayshift, 36 hours per week, Monday – Thursday with a 3 day weekend.
Qualifications
* HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* APM certifications of any level would be desirable but not essential.
