About the Role
On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the aviation industry, we are currently recruiting for a Buyer to support their procurement and operational procedures. Key Responsibilities
The Role:
* Purchase a wide range of aircraft parts and materials in line with operational procedures.
* Ensure timely placement and fulfilment of purchase orders and on-time delivery of materials.
* Maintain high levels of service for internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
* Secure competitive pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities, including discount structures and volume rebates.
* Support the development and implementation of purchasing policies and procedures.
* Ensure correct export licensing and documentation for controlled exports, including annual reporting.
* Manage stock levels, support inventory checks, and oversee annual stock-take reporting.
* Monitor supplier repairs, provide updates, and ensure adherence to workflow SLAs
* Handle supplier complaints, provide technical feedback, and manage expectations.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including regular engagement with top-tier suppliers.
* Gather market intelligence to support commercial decision-making and business development.
* Support continual improvement initiatives
* Assist with new supplier enquiries.
* Undertake any additional duties in line with role capabilities and business needs.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Strong experience in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with a focus on value delivery.
* Proven purchasing experience
* High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
* Confident, conscientious, and proficient with computer systems and databases.
* Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret supplier trends and performance.
* Technical proficiency across ERP/WMS/CRM systems and ability to develop process-efficiency tools.
* Excellent communication skills
* Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
* Experience within the aerospace or MRO industry.
* Knowledge of HMRC import/export regulations and Inward Processing (IPR) procedures.
* Familiarity with supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience working with third-party aviation marketplaces (ILS, Parts145).
* Ability to identify and implement operational optimisation strategies to drive value.
* Exposure to business development or supporting supplier onboarding processes.
