Job Title: School Caretaker / Site Assistant
Location: Leicester
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a welcoming and well-maintained school in Leicester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and are fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the opening and closing of the school premises
* Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties
* Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure, and well-presented at all times
* Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any concerns
* Support with site security, including monitoring access and responding to alarms when required
* Prepare rooms and facilities for school events, meetings, and examinations
* Liaise with contractors and external service providers as directed
* Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter picking and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and tidy
* Support the Site Manager with statutory compliance checks and record keeping
Requirements
* Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support role is desirable
* Practical maintenance and DIY skills
* Good understanding of health and safety practices
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Flexible and proactive approach to work
* Good communication skills and a professional manner
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
