Hays Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Blackpool following the October half term. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a passion for helping students with special educational needs thrive in a mainstream school environment.
Your new role
In this role, you will work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to support students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small group support, helping students access the curriculum and develop confidence both academically and socially. Your role will also involve assisting with classroom activities, adapting resources, and promoting inclusive learning strategies.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in an educational or care setting. You should be patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with students. A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate is desirable, but not essential.
