At Mace, we’re redefining ambition by delivering cutting‑edge construction across the globe. We invite you to join our Site Construction team as a Senior Construction Manager for a live pharmaceutical project in Cambridge.
Responsibilities
* Lead safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability & compliance, ensuring exceptional standards.
* Show expertise in local health & safety rules and regulations and apply them throughout the project.
* Champion a diverse & inclusive working environment and advance the welfare of the people on your team.
* Communicate with senior leadership, clients and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on the client’s vision.
* Manage and mentor a team of managers and professionals and establish the structures, tools and capabilities needed to deliver area plans.
* Resolve subcontractor contractual claims and changes, present monthly client applications and approve invoices.
* Draft technical and contractual correspondence and manage design consultant & specialist fees.
* Shield site teams from commercial and legal liabilities, ensuring compliance with all agreements.
* Collaborate with clients and subcontractors on the net‑zero carbon transition, identifying and reducing associated emissions.
* Promote Mace’s values, ensuring budgets are fiscally and ethically sound and that regulatory compliance is met.
* Support senior construction delivery in creating a sustainable business future by influencing long‑term strategy.
* Share knowledge with junior members and drive continuous learning within the team.
Qualifications
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent; CSCS required.
* Strong financial skills, commercial acumen, and proven cost reporting and risk meeting experience.
* Experience with multiple contract types and a deep understanding of current construction technology.
* Ability to lead commercial teams and steward Mace’s service offering, securing future business.
* Excellent presentation, negotiation and contract‑law skills.
* Ideally chartered with CIOB or RICS, with a strategic mindset for project delivery.
* Proven leadership style that builds high‑performing teams and coaches less‑experienced staff.
* Knowledge of client requirements and the capacity to promote Mace to clients.
* Drive for growth and a passion for supporting colleagues, clients and the planet.
