This is an exciting opportunity to join the Renal Secretariat team as a Specialty PA at the City Hospital.
The post-holder will provide high-quality administrative support to consultants and their teams, working as part of a dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be conscientious, enthusiastic, well-organized, communicative, reliable, and motivated.
Main duties of the job
* Provide administrative support to the renal team, including managing advice and guidance requests.
* Accurately transcribe clinical letters using BigHand within specified deadlines.
* Convey verbal and written information clearly and accurately, maintaining composure under pressure.
* Ensure the smooth operation of the department through teamwork.
* Establish and maintain administrative systems and databases.
* Manage incoming mail, results, and reports.
* Ensure the accuracy of RTT patient data.
* Serve as a key contact for consultants, managing queries, visitors, and diary appointments.
* Handle inbound and outbound phone calls related to patient care confidentially.
* Assist with patient waiting lists for procedures.

Person Specification
Education
* OCR text processing or equivalent qualification.
* Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above.
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration.
Experience
* Previous or current administrative experience.
* Typing experience.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Experience with electronic diary management.
* Familiarity with NUH computer systems.
* Knowledge of 18-week RTT policy and experience.
Communication and Relationship Skills
* Ability to convey information clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
* Effective communication with patients and healthcare professionals at various levels, maintaining confidentiality and empathy.
Analytical and Judgement Skills
* Ability to make informed decisions and solve problems using good judgement.
* Prioritise workload and use initiative effectively.
Planning and Organisation Skills
* Ability to organize own work schedule effectively.
* Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
