Job Summary
A PA is needed to support a 12‑year‑old boy with autism, ADHD and Tourette’s. He is a very bright, clever, intelligent person and requires a kind, caring, patient companion who makes him feel safe.
He needs notice when leaving the house and often finds it difficult to socialise; his home is his safe place. Extra care and support are needed outdoors and near roads, as the boy can experience intrusive thoughts and potential crisis.
The PA would need to ensure the boy wears ear defenders. The boy loves history and museums (his favourite is the York Dungeon), enjoys cinema, East Park and McDonald’s, and spends his favourite pastime at home gaming.
Responsibilities
* Support the boy’s daily activities and use of safety equipment.
* Provide additional care outdoors and near traffic to prevent crisis events.
* Assist with planning and supervising outings to museums, cinemas, parks, and restaurants.
* Encourage and assist with his gaming and leisure activities at home.
* Maintain a caring, patient, and supportive environment to build a good companionship.
Qualifications
* Good understanding of autism and Tourette’s.
* Kind, patient and compassionate.
* Ability to build companionship and trust with a young person.
