The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for designing, specifying, selecting, installing, and integrating instrumentation and control systems. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of industrial processes, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, specify, install, and calibrate a range of instrumentation including transmitters, sensors, and control valves.
* Ensure accurate and reliable process measurements to support safe and efficient plant operations.
* Investigate instrument failures and recommend corrective actions.
* Develop and maintain specifications for process measurements (pressure, temperature, flow, level, humidity).
* Complete planned maintenance activities and manage associated documentation within the maintenance management system.
* Raise and manage deviations when calibration limits are out of specification.
* Support the installation and validation of new equipment and systems.
* Maintain safe working areas and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
* Contribute to troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to instrumentation and control systems.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
* HNC / HND (or higher) in Engineering or a related field.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, including 230/400V, 3-phase, and low voltage systems.
* Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Good knowledge of cGXP standards.
* Basic understanding of field instruments, P&IDs, and loop diagrams.
* Experience with systems such as air handling units (AHUs), high-purity water systems, filling machines, and sterilisation equipment (autoclaves, ovens, VHP systems).
* Experience in commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of control systems.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* Experience with PLC programming tools (e.g., Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley).
* Familiarity with calibration tools such as AMETEK / HART communicators and various sensors (optical, proximity, capacitance, laser, radar).
* Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., Maximo).
* Minimum of 5 years working in an engineering environment.
* 2–3 years of experience in cleanroom or pharmaceutical environments.

* Participation in on-call rota may be required
