About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in the Cromer area on a part-time basis, working two days per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with UK financial regulations.
This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeping professional who can work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems.
- Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and petty cash.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records (if required).
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
- Prepare financial reports, cash flow summaries, and management information.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and financial documentation.
- Liaise with accountants, auditors, HMRC and other external stakeholders as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A recognised bookkeeping or accounting qualification such as:
- AAT Level 3 or Level 4 Diploma in Accounting, or
- ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) qualification, or
- Equivalent recognised UK bookkeeping qualification.
- Proven experience working as a Bookkeeper in the UK.
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Knowledge of UK payroll processes and HMRC requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
