It is an opportunity to join an industry leader and an excellent employer. Your Role: To investigate and determine the root cause of failures affecting water and hydrological cases. Most of your work will concern flooding, drainage and water ingress. Typical examples include flooding from rivers, the sea, surface water and groundwater, faults in foul and surface water drainage systems, failures in infrastructure such as pumping stations, reservoirs and canals, the effect that new developments have on flood risk to neighbouring properties, and water ingress into basements. During initial site investigations, you will oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and speak with witnesses. This information will help you piece together what has happened and why. Once the investigation is complete, you will prepare a report that sets out your findings in clear, plain language. It must be understandable to people without a technical background, whilst being detailed enough to stand up to scrutiny during claims settlement and legal proceedings. Support is available from in-house civil, geotechnical and environmental and hydrology experts. The final outcome of your work will be a report that explains the cause of the failure. They are a profitable, well managed business operating in a high margin profession. Profile Required: Water engineering / hydrology experience, ideally gained within consulting practice. This should have included topics such as flood risk, drainage, hydraulic modelling, catchment analysis and flood investigation. Chartered with the ICE, CIWEM or a similar body. A 2:1degree or above in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental Science or an equivalent relevant subject. Naturally inquisitive with the ability to apply lateral thinking and deductive reasoning skills to resolve complex technical problems. A good communicator capable of preparing well written reports and clearly articulating engineering concepts. Training & Progression: Support will be provided to enable you to apply your specialist technical expertise from a forensic investigation perspective.
