Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Norfolk (on-site)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location is based in Norwich, Norfolk and the company is willing to sponsor Visas for candidates already based in UK and open to candidates willing to relocate.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join a dedicated Engineering Department within a complex manufacturing environment. This role offers the chance to work across a variety of process plants, supporting operational teams with problem‑solving, system improvements, and project delivery. You'll play a key part in ensuring plant reliability, efficiency, and compliance on an Upper Tier COMAH site.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement new control systems.
* Maintain, test, and modify existing systems and automation infrastructure.
* Analyse technical data and produce detailed reports and documentation.
* Manage and deliver engineering projects within cost and time constraints.
* Provide technical guidance and support to production and maintenance teams.
* Specify, purchase, and commission new equipment.
* Develop and write control software and testing procedures.
* Implement and manage continuous improvement programmes to enhance plant performance.
* Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements (including COMAH and HSE standards).
* Review and modify PLC programmes to meet production requirements.
* Develop and maintain PLC/SCADA systems.
* Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
* Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
* HNC, HND, or Degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
* Proven experience working with PLC and SCADA systems in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation and standards, including HASAWA, COMAH, DSEAR, CompEx, and HSE Codes of Practice.
Technical Skills
* Strong knowledge of PLC and DCS systems – ideally Rockwell and/or Siemens S7.
* Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and optimising automated control systems.
* Experience with process improvement techniques and automation upgrades.
