The Role

The purpose of this role is to lead and support the Samples Team in the accurate preparation, assembly, and supply of sample and lighting products. The post holder will organise daily workloads, maintain an efficient workflow, and ensure all items are produced to the required quality standards and despatched within agreed timelines. Working closely with internal teams, this role plays an important part in meeting customer expectations and maintaining Gradus’ reputation for quality, service, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, support, and motivate the Samples Team to deliver high-quality output.
* Lead the Samples Team on a daily basis, including chairing the morning meeting and communicating any Health & Safety or quality issues.
* Review the previous day’s output performance and plan the workload for the day ahead.
* Oversee the preparation, assembly, and production of sample and lighting products to a high standard.
* Ensure all work is carried out safely, including completing risk assessments, pre‑start checks, and ensuring the team follow all Health & Safety requirements.
* Drive continuous improvements across HSE, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
* Analyse reorder point reports and raise manufacturing orders to maintain consistent product availability.
* Use computerised despatch systems to process orders accurately.
* Manage and support the use of machinery such as guillotines, punch presses, printers, saws, and drills, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
* Coordinate and manage internal and external deliveries, including handling customer collections.
* Monitor stock levels of sample components, identify shortages, and take appropriate action to ensure continuity.
* Support the team with packing and despatch activities, ensuring products are correctly packaged and arrive with customers in excellent condition.
* Work collaboratively with Customer Services, Production, and Sales to resolve queries and maintain service levels.
* Train new team members, support skill development, ensure all training documents are up to date and relevant, and maintain high standards of workmanship within the team.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

(For candidates already operating at or progressing toward a leadership level)

* Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, motivate, and build a strong team.
* Able to establish credibility and positive working relationships at all levels.

Desirable

* Counterbalance FLT licence.
* Experience using computerised despatch or operational systems

Shift Pattern:

* Monday – Friday 8.00 a.m. – 4.45 pm (4.30 p.m. finish on Friday).
* 1 x 45-minute unpaid lunch per day.
