Cadent Gas Ltd

Keep the energy flowing across the network

As a Network Technician in our Energy Operations team, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our gas transportation assets running safely and efficiently. From inspecting and testing instrumentation systems to fault-finding and repairs, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems are in top condition across the network.

This is more than just maintenance – it’s about protecting asset health, supporting operational excellence, and making sure our infrastructure meets the highest standards. You’ll work across a variety of sites, contribute to emergency response, and help shape the future of how we manage and maintain our network.

If you have experience in maintenance, fault finding, and repairing instrumentation systems, along with a solid understanding of instrumentation/electrical drawings, technical documents, and maintenance procedures, we want to hear from you! Whether your background is domestic or commercial electrical, if you have electrical testing experience, this could be the perfect role for you.

Why you’ll love this role

This is a hands-on, high-impact role that offers technical challenge, autonomy, and the chance to work across a wide range of assets.

Technical Variety – Work on instrumentation and electrical systems across multiple sites and asset types.
Operational Impact – Play a key role in fault diagnosis, asset health reporting, and emergency response.
Team Collaboration – Partner with colleagues and contractors to deliver safe, high-quality work.
Continuous Learning – Develop your skills across a broad technical landscape, with opportunities to grow and specialise.
Field-Based Freedom – Enjoy a role that gets you out and about, with travel across the network and a company vehicle provided.
Standby Rota: Participate in an E&I standby rota to maintain service standards.
Asset Health: Assess and report the condition of Electrical & Instrumentation equipment and systems.

What you’ll bring

You’re a skilled technician with a background in electrical and instrumentation systems, and a passion for keeping infrastructure running smoothly.

E&I Experience – Proven experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance, fault finding and repair.
Technical Knowledge – Understanding of relevant legislation and standards (e.g. BS7671, EAWR, Health & Safety at Work Act).
Qualifications – Electrical testing and inspection (C&G 2391 or equivalent), Instrumentation and Control or Electrical qualification.
Industry Certifications – COMPEX EX01–04, TEM 2 & 4, SCO1 & 2 (internal authorisations like EL6 RA(I) desirable but not essential).
Team Player – Able to work independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills.
Documentation Skills – Comfortable working with technical drawings, maintenance procedures and reporting systems.
Codes of Practice: Working knowledge of relevant codes of practice, engineering instructions, and statutory regulations.
Driving Licence – A full UK driving licence is essential due to the travel involved
