The Leadership & OD Lead is a key role within the NHS Executive, supporting the achievement of the organisations strategic plan and Organisational Development strategy by leading the design, commissioning and deployment of OD and leadership development approaches to develop our managers and leaders throughout the organisation. Working with the Deputy Director of People and OD, within the NHS Executive and colleagues in the wider team, the post-holder will play a key role in the implementation of our Organisational Development Strategy, with particular responsibility for Culture and Compassionate Leadership, by developing appropriate practices and approaches to develop and embed organisational values, behaviours and principles of compassionate leadership, supporting managers and leaders to create an environment in which people can thrive. Main duties of the job The post holder will work closely with People & OD Partners their Directorate leadership teams to understand leadership and performance issues, utilising their professional expertise in order to deliver innovative OD and leadership development solutions to support behaviour change and improve capability and capacity. This will also include a comprehensive range of talent development initiatives, directly aligned to strategic workforce plans, which will have a positive and measurable impact on both service delivery and employee experience. Equipping our leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to deploy responsibilities with care and compassion will be a key area of focus for the post holder, working closely with colleagues across the NHS Executive, to define the role of the manager post-pandemic, informed through ongoing work, in line with the organisations OD Strategy and the wider Strategic plan for the NHS Executive About us The NHS Wales Executive provides a central guiding hand, working in partnership for and on behalf of Welsh Government, in and with the NHS in Wales. Job responsibilities Working collaboratively with relevant teams, the post holder will develop appropriate practices and approaches and commission or provide OD interventions, to support managers and leaders to improve capability and performance in their teams. They will also facilitate the implementation of specific leadership initiatives into the organisation. The Leadership & OD Lead will support and represent the Deputy Director of People and Organisation Development both internally and externally as required, within the scope of their role. In addition, they will be a member of a number of national groups, influencing the development of the All Wales workforce agenda. Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential • Masters Level qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in OD or HR • Chartered Membership of the CIPD (MCIPD) or working towards attainment • Professional / specialist knowledge of OD methodology and tools • Professional / specialist knowledge of leadership practice • Evidence of CPD Desirable • FCIPD or equivalent professional qualification • HLM 360 Feedback Facilitator • British Psychological Society Level A and B qualified • Accredited Coach • Mediation Practitioner • Knowledge and understanding of wider political and social drivers that influence service delivery within the NHS Skills and Attributes • Ability to identify and implement OD and leadership development programmes to achieve desired organisational outcomes • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being able to communicate with multidisciplinary audiences • Strategic thinking and contextual understanding of NHS workforce issues • Excellent analytical and verbal reasoning skills and effective decision-making skills • Ability to develop and maintain networks and work collaboratively with stakeholders both internal and external to facilitate the achievement of objectives • Ability to advise and influence key internal and external stakeholders • Ability to work effectively as part of a team Experience • OD, leadership and talent development in a large, complex organisation • Devising and implementing OD, leadership and talent development interventions • Facilitating groups of all types and sizes • Working with senior teams • Developing frameworks and commissioning leadership development programmes • Designing and implementing competency based performance management processes • Working with survey data, and of interrogating and interpreting complex multi-source data for a variety of uses • Evaluation of OD interventions • Working across organisational boundaries and with external partners to achieve common goals • Coaching • Experience of building effective cross-functional working relationships to drive the organisational agenda • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines Other • Microsoft Office - to include Word, Excel (advanced)
