Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Officer/Manager to lead and oversee all Health & Safety activities across their site. This role is key to ensuring compliance with legal requirements while fostering a strong, forward-thinking culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility across the company.
Duties:
* Ensure the company meets all legal Health & Safety obligations and actively promote best practice across all departments.
* Increase staff awareness and engagement on Health & Safety matters through training, guidance, and communication.
* Act as the appointed Fire Officer – organising and leading practice evacuations, monitoring effectiveness, reporting outcomes, and making recommendations for improvements.
* Ensure all areas of the business are compliant with Health & Safety requirements, including off-site activities.
* Manage the First Aid team, ensuring facilities, equipment, and procedures are maintained to a high standard.
* Serve as the company’s Health & Safety Representative, chairing meetings and driving continuous improvement.
* Maintain up-to-date risk assessments, fire risk assessments, and COSHH registers.
* Support compliance with the company’s Environmental Policy and implementation plan.
* Oversee statutory inspections, including Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and building electrical certification.
* Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, producing reports and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
* Deliver and coordinate Health & Safety training for employees at all levels.
* Liaise with external authorities such as the Health & Safety Executive and Environmental Health Inspectors.
* Ensure compliance with internal and external audits, supporting existing accreditations and the implementation of any additional certifications.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Manager role within a manufacturing environment.
* Ideally NEBOSH or IOSH qualified, with additional experience in Quality Assurance (Essential).
* Proven experience carrying out risk assessments, manual handling assessments, COSHH and DSE assessments.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
* Confident in advising on Health & Safety issues, offering practical and solution-focused recommendations.
* Our client will consider candidates that are looking to take a step up into a managerial Health and Safety role. To be considered you must have -
* 5+ years' experience within Health and Safety.
* IOSH/NEBOSH.
* Experience within manufacturing.
What’s on offer:
* Salary: Up to £40,000
* Shift: Monday to Thursday – 7:00am – 5:00pm (Friday’s Off)
