Overview

A specialist SEN school in Pontefract (WF7) is seeking a committed and creative SEN Teacher to work with students aged 11–16 who have complex needs, including autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a close-knit, supportive setting where you’ll have the freedom to adapt lessons to suit individual needs and make a real difference in students’ lives. Teachers without QTS but with extensive SEN or inclusion experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons with support from TAs

2. Create a positive learning atmosphere with strong classroom routines

3. Develop strategies for behaviour regulation and social development

4. Engage closely with families, SEN teams, and other professionals

What We’re Looking For

5. QTS or equivalent qualification (desirable, not essential)

6. SEN teaching experience or background in inclusive settings

7. Confidence with classroom management and de-escalation

8. Patience, consistency, and strong communication skills
