About Our School/Department
The School of Education and English (EDEN) at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China is a research-active unit. EDEN brings tri-campus schools in China, the UK, and Malaysia together to collaborate on programmes and projects in Applied Linguistics, International Higher Education, Translation and Interpreting, Cognitive Neuroscience, Literature and Drama, and other fields. Our environment supports pioneering research in Psycholinguistics, Intercultural Communication, Multilingualism, Educational Leadership, Language Teaching Education (TESOL), Translation and Interpreting, Literary Studies, and International Higher Education. About The Role
The Academic Director of the PGCHE programme is responsible for the management of modules required by new academics across faculties for qualification/accreditation to teach in the UK higher education system. The programme and teaching/assessment materials are delivered by the Academic Director. PGCHE is accredited by Advance HE, and those who complete the course will be awarded Associate Fellow or Fellow status of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). The Academic Director will also develop bespoke teacher training workshops and programmes for local educators, with expansion to national and international audiences to establish UNNC as a leader in global teacher training and professional development. The role includes seeking grants and leading research projects in local and global teacher training and professional development, contributing to FHSS Area Studies research initiatives, and collaborating on research and knowledge exchange with UNNC’s UNESCO Office and the UK UNESCO Chair in the School of Education.
About You
Candidates must have:
* A doctoral degree in education, language education, teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field
* Higher Education Academy (HEA) Senior Fellow status (or higher)
* Recent experience developing and delivering teacher training and professional development workshops and programmes
* Excellence in higher education administration
* A strong record of global research and grant capture in education with emphasis on teacher training and professional development
* The position will be filled at an appropriate point on the Associate Professor level salary scale based on prior experience and current academic rank
Your Remuneration, Benefits And Support
The successful candidate will initially be offered a fixed-term contract for up to 5 years, with potential extension by mutual agreement.
