Job Title: Engineering Manager Department: Service and Maintenance Reports To: Head of Engineering Location: Head office based Job Purpose The Deputy Engineering / Mobile Engineering Manager is responsible for deputising for the Engineering manager and supporting with managing a team of mobile M&E engineers delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and small works across multiple client sites. The role ensures compliance, technical excellence, client satisfaction, and commercial performance in line with company objectives and statutory requirements. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Support Management of day-to-day engineer scheduling and cover in period of holiday. Ensure all works are completed safely, on time, and to required quality standards. Support mobilisation of new contracts and demobilisation where required. Management of Head office hard services. Manage out of hours callout rotas Team Leadership Lead, motivate, and develop a team of mobile engineers (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc Conduct performance reviews, toolbox talks, and technical guidance sessions. Identify training needs and ensure engineers maintain required certifications. Promote a strong health & safety culture. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (e.g., H&S at Work Act, CDM, Electricity at Work Regulations, F-Gas, Gas Safe, etc.). Ensure Engineers are completing Risk assessments. Ensure all engineers maintain safe systems of work. Support internal and external audits. Commercial & Financial Control Actively work with Engineering Manager to improve productivity to maximise mobile team utilisation. Technical Oversight Provide technical support on complex M&E issues. Ensure accurate completion of reports, certification, and asset records via CAFM systems. Oversee PPM scheduling and how asset are grouped. Skills & Experience Essential: Proven experience in M&E building services with a relevant engineering qualification Experience managing mobile or multi-site engineering teams. Strong knowledge of statutory compliance in building services. Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance in commercial environments. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Financial awareness and contract management experience. Full UK driving licence (if applicable IOSH/NEBOSH qualification. Experience using CAFM systems. Experience within FM or hard services contracts.
