Westcountry Case Management - Maximising potential for over 20 years!

We are looking to recruit a patient, warm, caring and reliable *Female Support Worker with a full driving licence and own car to support a 17-year-old girl with a learning disability and epilepsy in her home and community in the Kidderminster area.
She lives with her parents and younger sister in a property that has been adapted to meet her needs. The client is able to move around independently and has started to use public transport with support.
She attends 6th form at a specialist school for five days per week during term time and enjoys going on trips to different settings in the community, including, swimming, shopping, bowling and to local attractions. At home she enjoys coking and craft activities.
She requires supervision to ensure she is safe in different situations as she is not always aware of dangers around her and can become upset if a situation is new to her.
* Please note we are recruiting Female Support Workers due to a genuine occupational requirement of the person we support therefore this role is exempt from the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9
What you will be working:
The role is for 7 hours on a Saturday from 10am – 5pm
What you will be doing:
1. Assist the client to exercise choice and control over their own lives as far as they are able in everyday matters but taking into consideration cognitive problems
2. Liaise with and support the family as required
3. Assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained
4. Supporting the client to use local amenities such as shops and leisure facilities and attend community events
5. Follow the service user plan as documented for the client
6. Maintain accurate and confidential records
7. Maintain professional boundaries with the client and their family members, adhering to direction from the case manager as appropriate
What you will have:
8. Full driving licence and own car is essential
9. Ability to treat people with respect and dignity, in a non-judgemental, respectful and caring way, acknowledging their individuality
10. Previous experience working with young people, ideally supporting clients with learning disability and epilepsy
11. An NVQ / QCF Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
12. A genuine interest in providing the best person centre care possible
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
14. Willingness to learn and develop
15. Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS and enrol in the DBS update service
