Overview
The Prison Psychological Therapies Service in NHS Forth Valley is looking for a clinical/counselling psychologist to join the NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare team. This post involves providing highly specialised clinical interventions and assessments for mental health difficulties in complex individuals, and sharing formulations to inform wider team management of patients. The post holder is expected to contribute to staff training in health, social work and the Scottish Prison Service, with opportunities to provide supervision, reflective practice and contribute to multi-disciplinary working across three national prisons. The post will be based between HMP & YOI Stirling, HMP Glenochil and HMP & YOI Polmont.
The NHS Forensic Psychology Service in Forth Valley is part of the wider Psychological Services with strong opportunities for continuing professional development, reflective practice and service development. There is an emphasis on staff well-being with various projects and support groups within the department and wider Psychological Services. The wider Forensic Psychology Service covers the whole of Forth Valley and includes prison mental health; inpatient; community and MAPPA. We also support trainee clinical psychologists and have opportunities to supervise trainees and assistant psychologists. Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialised clinical interventions and assessments for mental health difficulties in complex individuals.
* Share formulations to inform wider team management of patients.
* Contribute to staff training across health, social work and the Scottish Prison Service.
* Provide supervision, reflective practice, and contribute to multi-disciplinary working across three national prisons where appropriate.
* Travel across the service delivery area as required.
