Mutli-Skilled Maintenance Technician - 3 Shift
Overview/Background
Based at our plant in Lurgan, a full time, permanent opportunity has arisen in the Maintenance department for an ambitious Maintenance Technician. The primary focus is on ensuring the maximum up time on machinery whilst ensuring the machinery runs consistently to the highest tolerances and minimum waste. The position will be three shift basis: 7-3pm, 3-12am, 12-7am.
The Role:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will:
* Work continuously to ensure that all scheduled maintenance engineering works including diagnostic fault analysis are actioned.
* In conjunction with the Engineering Management and Manufacturing teams, they will maximise the utilisation of the site’s assets while taking all opportunities to minimise costs
* Help drive the site’s continuous safety improvements and employee engagement programme.
The Maintenance Technician’s key responsibilities are:
* Carry out schedule-based maintenance work on equipment, buildings and services and repairs, overhauls and installations as appropriate. General maintenance and breakdown activities, resolving causes of defects for allocated cell/area.
* Fault find electrical and/ or mechanical faults, repair equipment in a breakdown situation. Deliver sufficient callout support and detailed handovers to ensure reliability and performance of the plants machinery in line with agreed service levels.
* Proactively identify and deal rectify potential equipment/services issues.
* Work with other departments/areas as part of the manufacturing team to ensure efficient running of the equipment and prioritize work as agreed.
* Apply modern maintenance techniques, to allow potential failures to be identified and eliminated or reduced as quickly as possible.
* Liaising with suppliers overs diagnosing faults, ordering or sourcing replacement parts.
* Promote and provide support to the Health, Safety and Environmental Quality departments to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner and to ensure compliance to all accredited standards including legislative and regulatory standards.
* Support and drive a strong proactive maintenance culture to ensure the site’s KPI metrics and targets are met and creating a climate that relentlessly strives for downtime minimisation, excellence and continuous improvement.
* Accurate and timely completion of all relevant computer and IT related records i.e. SAP.
* Working with the Engineering management to develop procedures to ensure “right first time” including a robust preventative maintenance programme.
* Provide Production with engineering & technical support to existing manufacturing processes and equipment to maximum uptime.
* Optimise equipment performance and suggest, investigate, and provide solutions for potential process improvements while liaising with Manufacturing i.e. planning.
* Provide practical problem solving and technical support for engineering projects and solutions.
* Assist the Maintenance management with project management and long term planning.
* Liaise with the Production & Quality Departments regarding equipment and process issues.
* Facilitate/ generate corrective, predictive & preventative maintenance tasks.
* React to unforeseen situations in a safe and professional manner.

* Develop and utilise Lean manufacturing methodologies to prevent issues happening in the first place and determining the root cause of problems to prevent reoccurrence and identifying and developing productivity and cost take out opportunities.
* Ensure all relevant Health & Safety, Quality and environmental procedures are adhered to at all times.
* Demonstrate good interpersonal skills that can contribute, lead and drive improvements in productivity levels throughout the plant.
* Behave at all times in a courteous and professional manner.
* Accept and support of all new systems, methodologies and procedures as they are introduced to the Maintenance department and site wide.
* Liaise with Planning, Production and Quality departments to ensure products are produced on time, every time.
* Contribute to the effective running of the plant, and devise and implement solutions to problem.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks which may be deemed necessary by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor or Production management.
* Flexibility on working hours combined with the ability to meet demanding time frames
* Any other relevant duties as required.
Key Competencies/Qualifications/Requirements
Essential Criteria
* Time served qualification in Maintenance Engineering related discipline. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with an understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Proven successful experience in a similar role.
* Experience in servicing and repair of electrical, electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems.
* Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately across all levels of the company using written and spoken English.
* Experience in working in a high-volume production environment with automated machinery.
* Experience in electrical/mechanical fault finding, maintenance and installation.
* Experience in carrying out preventive maintenance on motors, gearboxes, conveyor systems, rollers and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
* Understanding of adjustments and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications.
* Mechanical fault finding and repairs capabilities.
* A creative and inquisitive instinct to pursue continuous improvements.
* Ability to be flexible, prioritise workload, manage complexity and adapt to changing conditions whilst meeting strict deadlines.
* An ambitious, motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn and develop.
* Highly motivated, driven, proactive, can-do attitude.
* Strong people and interpersonal skills that is able to communicate effectively and appropriately across all levels and build strong relationships.

Desirable Criteria
* Strong Mechanical knowledge of a maintenance /engineering related discipline. HNC/HND or other equivalent qualification
* Experience in a site with ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 systems
* IOSH qualification
* IEEE or equivalent qualification
* IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
* Experience using SAP or other similar system
* Good welding skills
* Experience of working high pressure steam lines
* Detailed orientated.
