The post holder will be a motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic individual who is willing and able to join the team at NGH and to help us to maintain our high quality of service. Collingtree A is a Trauma and Orthopaedic ward.
The post holder will work as an effective member of the team, providing quality administrative support to the wider team. The post holder must have a wide variety of communication skills and work well within a team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Answering telephone, taking messages and enquiries regarding patients’ condition after consultation with ward nursing staff and adhering to data protection as per policy.
* Operating patient administration computer system and ensuring computer system is up to date at all times with details of all patients currently on the ward.
* Ensuring all patient details on the computer are correct, including ethnic origin and religion.
* Recording patient discharges and transfer details on the computer as soon as possible after the event.
* Maintaining an adequate supply of stock levels to maintain the smooth running of the ward.
* Being responsible for ensuring that case notes are available, filed as per protocol, maintained in an orderly manner and returned appropriately after discharge letters are completed for coding purpose.
* Notifying Next of Kin of patients’ admissions and (emergency) transfers if required by ward staff.
