Nursing assistant (NVQ3 required)

Job Type: Full-time

About the role:

As a Nursing Assistant you will be expected to participate as a member of the Care Team to plan, lead, monitor and deliver high quality care to residents in line with their individual care plans, under the supervision and guidance of the Home Manager. You will be assisting residents with their daily activities and identifying and assisting them with their individual needs and preferences. You will be expected to communicate effectively, promote privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individual rights and also participate in protecting our vulnerable residents from any harm or abuse.

You will work alongside the Registered Nurse to ensure that Resident's health and wellbeing needs, within the Nursing Assistant limitations.

You will need to hold a NVQ/ Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care alongside completion of the Nursing Assistant program.

About location:

Situated a short way from the Birmingham city centre, this Care Centre has a capacity for 116 residents. Our NVQ qualified nurses and carers provide care for those in need of specialist care, including dementia, stroke and Alzheimer’s suffers as well as elderly care and end of life care.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care: Nurse assistants help residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. They ensure that residents maintain their hygiene and dignity while promoting independence whenever possible.

Mobility Assistance: They assist residents with mobility, helping them move around the facility, transferring them between beds and chairs, and ensuring they can navigate their environment safely.

Monitoring Vital Signs : Nurse assistants are responsible for measuring and recording vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. They monitor changes in residents' health and report any concerns to nursing staff.

Feeding and Nutrition: They assist residents with eating and drinking, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and hydration according to their dietary needs. This may include helping with feeding tubes or specialized diets as directed by healthcare professionals.

Emotional Support: Nurse assistants provide emotional support to residents and their families, helping to create a comforting and supportive environment.

Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety: They play a vital role in keeping patient rooms and common areas clean and organized, changing bed linens, and following infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections.

Communication: Nurse assistants often serve as the primary contact for residents, communicating their needs and concerns to the nursing staff and ensuring that care plans are followed.



Skills Required

Compassion and Patience: Working with elderly or disabled residents requires a caring attitude and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations.

Physical Strength: Nurse assistants need to have the physical ability to lift and move patients safely.

Attention to Detail: They must be observant to detect changes in residents' conditions and report them promptly.

Teamwork and Communication:



Qualifications /requirements:

* ü Proven experience working nursing assistant
* ü NVQ3 in Health and Social care
* ü Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimers care,Schizophrenia care, memory care, and hospice support is highly desirable
* ü Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
* ü Experience in a similar role in the UK is desirable
* ü Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to different healthcare settings.
* ü Right to work in the UK for at least 12-month without need of sponsorship
* ü Good written and verbal communication skills
* ü Caring and compassionate
* ü Reliable
* ü Ability to follow care plans effectively,
* ü Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Requirements
Experience in a similar role is mandatory NVQ3 in Health and Social Care Willingness to learn. You must be currently resident in the UK You must have the right to work in the UK Excellent communication skills. You must be friendly and well-organised with an excellent work ethic.
