About the Role
We are recruiting two Windows 11 Deployment Engineers to support two major technology programmes at York St John University. The role is 18 months fixed‑term, based in York with occasional travel to the London campus. Responsibilities include upgrading and replacing over 1,000 campus computers, configuring devices, providing 1:1 onboarding, managing secure disposal, maintaining accurate asset records, and supporting users during transition.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, configure, and deploy Windows 11 devices across the university.
* Deliver devices in person and offer tailored onboarding support to users.
* Manage the secure disposal of old equipment and keep accurate asset records.
* Provide user support through incidents/tickets, offering resolution and escalation where needed.
* Ensure compliance with audit, security, and ITIL processes.
* Collaborate with colleagues across ITS and the wider university community.
* Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and contribute to digital strategy development.
* Audit and document device network patching and port usage during deployments.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree level education or significant relevant ICT experience.
* Strong understanding of Windows desktop deployment in an enterprise environment.
* Experience with Microsoft System Center technologies and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
* Organised, proactive, and customer‑focused approach.
* Foundation‑level certification in ITIL or PRINCE2 would be desirable; CCNA or MCSE advantageous.
* Experience with mobile technologies, Apple devices, and AV systems would strengthen the application.
