KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The postholder will play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of many employees using their specialist clinical skills and expert knowledge
- The postholder will report to the head of Occupational Health Nursing and the main duties of the post will include:
- Screen pre-employment health related information, and carry out assessments, including baseline health surveillance assessments for recruits where required.
- Screen and carry out health surveillance assessments of individuals to satisfy statutory obligations and departmental policy; to include but not limited to audiometry, hand arm vibration and confined space assessments.
- Screen, assess and report on the fitness of employees, including those on sickness absence, and to advise regarding adjustments.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; and refer as appropriate.
- Participate in occupational vaccination programmes.
- Be actively involved in the development and implementation of healthrelated programmes and policies.
- Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures.
- Participate and lead on some audit activities.
- Participate in activities to maintain continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
- Comply with the NMC ‘Code of professional practice’ and submit evidence of annual registration, and three yearly revalidation requirements.
- Use of bespoke OH IT system.
- Part of the function of the post will involve working with the Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) and applicants must be willing to carry out visits to prison premises if necessary.
- Support in the governance and role of the occupational health technicians.
- Co-ordinate with business support to arrange the delivery of services, including vaccination clinics, both on and offsite.
