Prospero Teaching are seeking a Tutor to support a young learner who is currently at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX). This role is more than just academic support-it's about building trust, nurturing confidence, and helping a child feel seen, heard, and valued. This vacancy is for 8 hours per week, and additional opportunities are available.
About the Learner:
Year 4 student transitioning into Year 5
Presents with significant Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Has sensory processing challenges
Requires a Tutor who can provide Maths and English tuition, but more importantly, someone who can:
Build a positive, trusting relationship
Support social development and relationship maintenance
Show compassion, consistency, and understandingAbout you:
Experience working with children with SEMH and/or sensory needs
A nurturing, trauma-informed approach to teaching
Ability to adapt lessons to meet the learner's emotional and academic needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Full time/part-time - Opportunities for both
Hours - 8 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
