As the Development Manager, you will spearhead fundraising efforts for the JDRF One Walk program, driving strategic growth initiatives, volunteer engagement, and donor stewardship to ensure an exceptional participant experience. This role requires a proactive individual who will play a pivotal role in new business development, optimizing fundraising efficiency, and enhancing chapter operations. You will identify and engage new donors, manage cultivation opportunities, oversee event activities, and support administrative functions to streamline the donor giving cycle. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with the Chapter team to bolster the impact of all programs aligned with JDRF's mission. The Development Manager must reside in the Washington, DC metro area. This includes the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, or Prince George's or Montgomery County Maryland. This is a hybrid position. The Development Manager must be willing to work from our Washington DC office twice a week and travel to other markets, specifically the Virginia Beach market, approximately once a month. Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of the Chapter's One Walk program, focusing on strategic planning, revenue growth, and engagement across all levels. Develop and execute strategies to recruit, train, and manage a pipeline of volunteers, community leaders, donors, and team captains to achieve revenue goals. Cultivate relationships with prospects, conduct prospect research, and develop engagement plans to secure new donors and team participants. Drive volunteer committee development, team recruitment, budgeting, marketing, logistics, and best practice implementation for One Walk events. Collaborate with Chapter staff to manage event logistics, including kick-off events, Walk Day activities, and Awards Celebrations. Maximize team participation and fundraising efforts by providing guidance and support to existing and new teams from diverse community sectors. Build and steward relationships with community, civic, and corporate leaders to foster donor and volunteer engagement. Provide administrative support, manage CRM database operations, and troubleshoot technical issues related to Walk management software. Utilize CRM data management tools to facilitate efficient moves management of donor pipeline and oversee strategic alliances. Qualifications: College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 4 years of work experience, with at least 2 years in relevant fundraising or business development roles. Proven ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and adapt quickly in a team environment. Strong proficiency in CRM database management (Salesforce preferred), and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal abilities. Experience in prospect research and developing innovative donor acquisition strategies. Familiarity with new business development and account management preferred. Detail-oriented with a knack for enhancing staff efficiency while prioritizing donor-centric approaches. Willingness to travel within the Chapter footprint and work occasional evenings and weekends as needed. About the Chapter: As one of the top-performing Chapters in the country, JDRF's Mid-Atlantic (MAC) Chapter plays a vital role in the organization's success. The MAC chapter includes a staff team of fourteen (14), 1 Chapter Community Board of Directors, 3 Mission Boards in each community - DC, MD and VA, as well as leadership volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of JDRF across the Chapter territory, which includes Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.
