Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the West Midlands for a Finance Business Partner to join the team on a temporary basis. The postholder will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing expert guidance on areas including VAT, collection fund accounting, statutory accounts, and financial planning—ensuring robust financial management and value for money.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver expert technical accounting support, including statutory accounts, VAT, and collection fund management, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practice
* Provide high-quality financial advice, insight, and challenge to senior stakeholders to support decision-making, planning, and service delivery
* Lead on financial governance, internal controls, and audit support, ensuring strong financial stewardship across services
* Develop and maintain financial models, business cases, and forecasting tools to identify savings opportunities and support strategic initiatives
Candidate Criteria
* CCAB/CIMA qualified (or actively studying), with strong technical accounting expertise including IFRS and financial reporting
* Proven experience as a Financial Reporting Accountant or similar role, ideally within a public sector or local authority setting
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and statutory reporting requirements
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at a senior level
