Overview
Assistant Editor (PhD holder) - Catalysts is a full-time, in-office role based in Manchester, UK. The position supports the editorial process for journals in the catalysts domain and offers training in editorial work with potential future journal assignments related to your field of study.
Responsibilities
* Support the editorial process for academic journals in your domain of expertise.
* Organize the peer review process for submitted manuscripts and coordinate editorial decisions.
* Handle email communication between authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the publication process.
* Collaborate with the editorial and production teams to ensure timely and accurate publication.
* Ensure scholarly articles are edited and published with a high degree of accuracy and consistency to meet tight deadlines.
Requirements
* PhD degree in a subject adjacent to catalysts (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Chemistry, Organic/Inorganic Chemistry).
* Excellent written and spoken English skills.
* Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Team player able to work in a dynamic, international environment.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Good communication and coordination skills.

Training and Career Development
New hires receive full training in editorial work, working closely with Managing Editors. Training is on the job during the first six months, supervised by an assigned tutor. Depending on your background, you may work on journals related to your field. No prior editorial experience is required, though familiarity with the academic editorial process is advantageous.
