We are looking for a pro-active, motivated individual to work within our dedicated booking team who support the Trust delivering Cancer wait targets.
The post holder will be a point of contact for managing radiology requests in patient pathways following a suspected cancer referral. The post holder will co-ordinate with the clinical and administrative teams to arrange the next steps in the pathway and will communicate these to the referring team, cancer pathway navigators, MDT co-ordinators and patients as appropriate.
The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that progress in the pathway is recorded in the cancer database system as well as the radiology appointment system, in a timely manner. This post is essential to providing high quality information and ensuring patient's progress effectively on the cancer pathway.
* To provide specialties and cancer services a focal point for individual escalations
* Working from patient tracking/work lists, input data into Infoflex as appropriate, in order to ensure individual patient records are updated in a timely and accurate manner.
* Liaise with Radiology booking staff to ensure all patients on a suspected cancer pathway, that require urgent imaging are booking within target date
* Pro-actively update Service, Cancer Manager and GM for Radiology regarding the progress of individual patients, escalating issues and delays in the patient's pathway quickly and proactively.
* Liaise with 2ww booking team in Central Booking Office to ensure 2ww patients accessing imaging as their first diagnostic are booking within target.
* Develop a basic understanding of the medical terminology and treatments for cancer in order to fully understand the patient's pathway.
* Maintain close communication with the MDT coordinator updating him/her on a regular basis on work progress and alerting him/her of any problems that may result in a delay in the patient's imaging or reporting
* Provide administrative support

* Reducing diagnostic delays and DNAs
The cancer pathway radiology tracker helps reduce the number of missed appointments (DNAs) by coordinating bookings, ensuring patient attendance, and rescheduling as needed.
Strategic Impact: Minimising delays and DNAs helps meet key cancer performance indicators and ensures patients are on track for timely diagnosis and treatment.
* Optimizing use of outsourcing and CDCs
The cancer pathway radiology tracker can coordinate outsourcing to Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) and external teleradiology services, ensuring quality control and timely report turnaround.
Strategic Impact: Minimising delays and DNAs helps meet key cancer performance indicators and ensures patients are on track for timely diagnosis and treatment.
* Supporting Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs)
The cancer pathway radiology tracker facilitates communication between radiology and MDTs by ensuring accurate and timely reporting of imaging results.
Strategic impact: Streamlined MDT processes improve decision-making and treatment planning, directly enhancing patient outcomes.
* Provide administrative support for Radiology for cancer related cases or related work
Additional Responsibilities
* The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality and in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
* The post holder is an ambassador for the directorate and the Trust. His/her actions and conduct will be judged by stakeholders as an indication of the quality of the service provided by the directorate and Trust as a whole.
* Abide by all Statutory and Trust policies and procedures.
* Attend MDT Co-ordinator team meetings and help support.
* Attend mandatory training courses as identified through supervision and individual performance review.
* Participate in individual performance review in regular supervision sessions as agreed.
* Assist with covering the MDT co-ordinators duties for annual leave/ sickness
