The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, this position plays a key role in driving manufacturing efficiency and supporting the continuous improvement of production operations. You will act as a change agent within the manufacturing team, leading initiatives to improve processes, introduce new products, and enhance facility layout and performance.
Responsibilities
1. Support day-to-day production activities including troubleshooting and improvement plans
2. Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews
3. Analyse downtime and implement improvements to quality and efficiency
4. Evaluate production flow and identify bottlenecks
5. Support new product introductions (NPI)
6. Improve shop floor layouts and space utilisation
7. Collaborate cross-functionally on improvements
8. Maintain and standardise documentation and SOPs
9. Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety compliance
10. Support quality assurance and investigate failures
11. Assist with material flow and presentation
Qualifications
12. Experience in a volume manufacturing environment
13. Hands-on approach and ability to support teams on the shop floor
14. Experience in new product introduction
15. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
16. Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
17. Understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, automation)
18. Experience with root cause analysis tools
19. Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, etc.)
20. Understanding of material flow and scheduling
21. Knowledge of health & safety practices
22. Qualifications
23. Degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline
24. Working Pattern
25. Monday to Friday shift rotation with early and late shifts. Includes 20% shift premium.
