About Us The Kingfisher Café serves the independently owned Kingfishers Bridge Nature Reserve in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens. We take pride in offering homemade cakes, quality coffee, and light bites to visitors who come to enjoy one of the regions most beautiful natural spaces. As we continue to grow, were looking for a talented baker to bring even more warmth and creativity to our kitchen.
The Role
As our Baker & Pastry Chef, you will be at the heart of what makes the Kingfisher Café special. Youll be responsible for baking our full range of pastries, cakes, and sweet treats each day producing consistently delicious goods that keep our visitors coming back. Youll have real creative input into what we make and will work closely with a small, supportive team of staff and volunteers.
What Youll Be Doing
Baking and preparing fresh pastries, cakes, and baked goods daily
Developing and testing new recipes to keep our menu seasonal and exciting
Maintaining high standards of presentation, quality, and consistency
Managing ingredient ordering and stock to minimise waste
Keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene standards
Working collaboratively with the wider café team to support a smooth operation
Who Were Looking For A genuine passion for baking and a creative eye for beautiful cakes and pastries
12 years of experience in a bakery, café, or kitchen setting is preferred but not essential
Reliable, hardworking, and calm under pressure with good attention to detail
A positive, team-first attitude and a willingness to roll your sleeves up
Good food hygiene awareness; a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) is desirable
Availability to work weekends, and some early mornings especially in spring and summer
