Location: Office based Irlam, Manchester
We are seeking a Buyer to join our dynamic purchasing team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of material supply management.
In this role, you will lead global supplier performance reviews, coordinate monthly and quarterly business reviews, and play a key role in aligning supplier strategies with our broader business objectives. You’ll communicate the company's vision, collaborate closely with suppliers, and drive initiatives to achieve shared goals.
Key responsibilities
* Procurement of all products, managing all aspects of materials supply.
* Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure alignment of business objectives.
* Carry out supplier quarterly business reviews, monitoring suppliers' performance and driving solutions.
* Ensure products are delivered on requested dates.
* Analyze supplier spend, negotiate prices & T & C’s, with a focus on driving cost savings and improved terms.
* Identify and manage supply chain risks, communicating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks.
* Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate cross-functionally, particularly with Product Management, Planning, Purchasing, Finance, and Quality teams.
* Manage KPIs and reporting related to procurement activities.
* Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and management.
* Handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
What you will bring:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; APICS certification (CPIM) preferred.
* Practical experience in purchasing demand and production planning within a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement teams and activities.
* Proficiency with Oracle (or similar) ERP planning systems.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities across various projects.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels.
* Ability to analyze cost-effectiveness and make sound commercial decisions.
* Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
