Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary Setting

We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary setting near Winchester.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience supporting children or vulnerable people, including those from SEN, support work, care, healthcare, residential care, childcare, or education backgrounds who are looking to transfer their skills into a rewarding school environment.
This specialist primary provision supports pupils with a broad range of complex special educational needs, including physical disabilities, learning difficulties, communication needs, and medical requirements.
The school offers a purpose-built environment designed to promote accessibility, inclusion, and personalised support, with specialist facilities and equipment to help every child thrive.
The curriculum is highly adapted and focused not only on educational achievement, but also on developing independence, communication, wellbeing, and life skills. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support primary-aged pupils with varying levels of need throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include supporting learning activities, encouraging communication and independence, and assisting pupils with their physical, emotional, and personal care needs where required.
Some pupils may require support with mobility, sensory needs, medical routines, or the use of specialist equipment. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
This role combines education and care, making it particularly well suited to individuals who are patient, attentive, and passionate about helping children reach their potential.
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils
Assist in delivering engaging, personalised learning activities
Support pupils with personal care where required
Assist with mobility and the safe use of specialist equipment
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Promote communication, independence, and positive social interaction
Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals in any setting
Backgrounds in support work, care, healthcare, SEN, childcare, or education are encouraged
A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
Confidence supporting both learning and care needs
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Full-time availability
Enhanced DBS check required
£14.25 per hour
