Senior Social Worker – Older Adult Mental Health
Permanent, Full Time.
£48,205 to £57,988 per annum.
Location: Colchester.
Working Style: Community‑based worker.
Closing Date: 15th June 2026.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert guidance and model best practice, including mentoring both newly qualified and experienced colleagues.
* Manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertaking comprehensive assessments and creating person‑centred care plans.
* Ensure compliance with statutory Care Act requirements, relevant legislation and organisational standards.
* Maintain high standards of professional practice in complex social work situations.
* Collaborate closely with council partners and other agencies to deliver high‑quality, independence‑promoting solutions.
* Chair multi‑agency meetings, ensuring a clear social‑care perspective is represented.
Qualifications
Qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration and a minimum of two years post‑qualification experience, demonstrating in‑depth knowledge of complex cases and the Care Act. Preferred qualifications: AMHP, BIA or PE.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in line with current professional standards.
* Understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
* Strong decision‑making skills, with ability to clearly identify and limit potential risks.
