Monitoring & Backup Engineer
Location - Northampton (Hybrid)
Salary - up to £30K
As a Monitoring & Backup Engineer you will join an exciting, fast-paced area of our Managed Service, striving to deliver all-round service excellence to our customers with a proactive mindset. You will play a key role in areas such as continual improvement of monitoring & backup systems, proactively eliminating any security weaknesses for our customers and delivering core processes/activities.
Job Role Responsibilities
The Monitoring & Backup Engineer role will assist the Managed Service Operation Centre maintaining and managing our current toolset alongside assisting the Monitoring and Backup team with day-to-day operational Requests and Incidents to ensure the smooth operation of our client’s infrastructure.
The following key aims are expected:
* Full ownership of Monitoring and Backup for the Managed Service Operation Centre.
* Escalation point to Service Desk for Backup & Monitoring issues.
* Analyse events, perform troubleshooting and incident response on the related systems communicating with relevant teams or third parties responsible for managing the systems for quick alert resolution.
* Work with the Service teams to ensure that monitoring and alerting is optimised for existing customers as well as any new customers from the offset.
* Ensure customer incidents are resolved as quickly as possible (on and off-site)
* Take responsibility and exceed company Service Level Agreements
* Work closely with customers and resellers to ensure that a high level of communication and engagement is maintained.
* Assist in creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers and resellers.
* Ensure that solutions are installed to appropriate standards and industry best practice.
* Provide occasional out of hours support and maintenance as required including evenings and weekends.
* Aid the Service team for implementation and support of customer incidents and projects.
* Undertake customer audits and create appropriate documentation.
* Create and maintain suitable customer infrastructure / service documentation.
* Accountable for the change control process and the upkeep of digital records
* Work under own initiatives as part of the team to ensure high quality support to clients.
* Undertake tasks identified by the team.
* Undertake any other duties as required, which are deemed necessary to satisfy the needs of Bechtle.
* Ensure incident information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner on our ITSM tool.
* Keep appraised of new and emerging technologies.
* Seek and highlight additional opportunities whilst working with customers and resellers.
* Suggest improvements for the on-going development of the company.
* Ensure daily monitoring and resolution of issues relating to customer backups, DR solutions and IAAS platforms.
* Assist with customer trials and pre-sales for new sales opportunities.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a role supporting servers, networks, virtualised systems, backup, and M365 & Azure.
* Proven experience of enterprise / mainstream technologies and applications primarily focused on Microsoft 365, Azure, AVD, Windows Server, AD, VMware, Veeam, Acronis.
* Experience managing RMM and monitoring tools
* Industry recognised accreditations such as MS102, AZ104, VMware VCP, CCNA are highly desirable.
