Position Details
We are seeking an enthusiastic GP with an interest in medical education to support the Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine course (Scot GEM) in Dumfries and Galloway.
ScotGEM is an innovative graduate entry medical programme employing a case-based approach to learning. It is a 4-year course commissioned by the Scottish Government to widen access to medicine and promote generalist careers in under-served, especially rural, areas. Led by the Universities of St. Andrews and Dundee, in conjunction with the University of Highlands and Islands, NHS Boards in Dumfries & Galloway, Fife, Tayside, and Highland, the course has successfully graduated 3 cohorts over 7 years.
As a ScotGEM CLIC GCM, you will support our GCMs, who are also GPs, in delivering the Clinical Interactions Course (CLIC) at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on Tuesday afternoons. You will also have opportunities to contribute to learning resource development, student examinations, and other aspects of the ScotGEM programme.
This role is ideal for new GPs seeking to expand their teaching skills, as well as experienced GPs and educators looking for a new challenge. Applications are open to both GPs new to the region and existing local GPs.
Dumfries and Galloway is a friendly rural region with good housing, schools, and links to Carlisle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Belfast.
